Jelena Ostapenko won the Roland Garros 2017

Jelena Ostapenko put on a thrilling display to halt Simona Halep's quest for the No.1 WTA ranking and win her first ever major title at the French Open.

Jelena Ostapenko capped a beautiful fairytale fortnight with her first Grand Slam crown, to beat No.3  seed Simona Halep, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to win Roland Garros 2017.

Today Jeļena Ostapenko was too good. it is wonderful to see young players break through, Jelena has superstar qualities, congrats to her. Latvia has their first ever Major Champion

Halep isn't grand slam material she couldn't even win her 1st Grand Slam on her favorite surface even
when Sharapova and Williams weren't playing,
it will take Simona some time to get over this. Sharapova & Azarenka are back for Wimbledon. Kvitova will be well rested.

The 20 years old Latvian was playing in her first major final and came to Paris unseeded and looming, knocking out reigning Olympic champion Monica Puig en route
to the second week, where she won three straight three-setters against 2010 finalist Samantha Stosur, former World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki, and 2015 semifinalist Timea Bacsinszky.

Jelena Ostapenko trailed Halep by a break in both the second and third sets - saving three break
points that would have seen her fall behind 0-4 in the former - to win her first singles title Paris, France.

Warm congrats Jelena for your great performance and first Grand Slam title Fearless, aggressive, no compromise and well played great Tennis.
