Marc Marquez wins the MotoGP Czech Republic Grand Prix 2017

A tactical masterstroke from Honda helped Marc Marquez to a dominant victory in the MotoGP Czech Republic Grand Prix.

With the race declared wet but the track quickly drying at the start, Marquez was brought into the pits early to put on a softer tyre compound, and he was able to make massive gains on the rest of the field. Eventually he finished 12 seconds clear of team-mate Dani Pedrosa in second place with his 150th podium, with Yamaha's Maverick Vinales taking third.

The World Champion took the rest of the riders to school today
The victory may prove vital in what has been a tight MotoGP season, with Marquez extending hislead to 14 points over Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) who managed to charge back up through the field to complete the rostrum, limiting the damage caused by pitting later and keeping himself second in the Moto GP Championship standings; just 10 points had separated the top four in the standings heading into the battle at Brno.

With the field all on wets, The Spanish Marquez got away in the lead at lights out, but a storming start for Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) from fifth saw him then moving through for the lead on Lap 1. Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) slotted into P3, with Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) just besting Dani Pedrosa to take fourth.

Lorenzo began to pull away with a good gap as Rossi swooped through on both Dovizioso and Marquez to take second, and a dry line was already appearing on the Czech circuit. The number 93 was dropping through the field and then dived into the pits as the first to try the switch to slicks –
struggling on the softer tyre and taking the gamble early.

Rossi was hunting down Lorenzo as the track was drying and drying, before the ‘Spartan’ headed in – as did many of the front group. Meanwhile, Marquez was on a charge setting red sector after red sector back out on slicks, and it appeared he’d played his hand to perfection at the 2017 grand prix české republiky in Brno.

In the Moto GP points table Marc Marquez lead with 154, points over,
Maverick Viñales, with 140, points, third is Andrea Dovizioso with 133, points. the fourth is Valentino Rossi with 132, points. And fifth is Dani Pedrosa with 123, points.
