Britain's Andy Murray beat five-time champion Serbian Novak Djokovic to win his first ATP World Tour Finals title and end 2016 as the world number one.
Andy Murray needed to win the final match of the season, With the year-end number 1 ranking at stake. And he did it, rather easily, with the appaling performance by the Serb. Murray won the much-anticipated final 6-3 6-4 at London's O2 Arena.
"I'm very happy to win and to be world number one is very special, It's very special playing against Novak in a match like this, "We've played Grand Slam finals and in the Olympics before, but I am very happy to win. It is something I never expected." said the 29 years old Scottish champion Andy Murray.
You cannot deny that Andy Murray's achievements this last six months are quite incredible. And to cap it by beating Novak Djokovic is the icing on the cake - which will no doubt choke those critics who said, "He hasn't had to play Djokovic to get there.".
