Fed Cup 2016: The Czech Republic beat France to claim a third consecutive title


The Czech Republic won the Fed Cup for the 10 time with a 3-2 victory over hosts France's team at Strasbourg France.

The Czech recovered from a 1-2 deficit against France to win the final three matches  and seal a fifth Fed Cup title at Strasbourg, France, in the last six years.

Resuming at 1-1 in the best-of-five tie, France's world number 23 WTA Caroline Garcia beat world number six Karolina Pliskova by 6-3 3-6 6-3.

Barbora Strycova world number 19, levelled by beating Alize Cornet world number 45, by 6-2 7-6 (7-4), setting up a decisive doubles match in Sunday for the Fed Cup title.

Pliskova and Strycova beat Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic world number 41, 7-5 7-5 to wrap up the Czechs' fifth title in six years.

The Czech they have now won the Fed Cup Championships 10 times!, five of which were as Czechoslovakia.

The United States are the most successful nation in the Fed Cup competition's history, winning it 17 times the title.
