Timea Babos won her second WTA title in great style, taking out former World No.5 and No.2 seed the Czech Lucie Safarova, 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-3 to win the inaugural Hungarian Ladies Open championship in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.
The trophy was handed over by the nine-time Grand Slam champion Monica Seles.
"I'm really, really happy," she said after the match. "It's an unbelievable feeling and an incredible moment for my career that I could play against Lucie. She's an amazing player and it was a big fight and it's unbelievable that I could come out with a win in front of my home crowd. It was amazing this week, thanks to the encouragement without the Hungarian public it would have been much more difficult, said Tímea Babos.
Both women were playing their first finals of the season.
It was a great quality, hard hitting contest, Timea Babos was fighting for every ball like her life depended on it, which explains her tears after winning the match. it was so close till the end, the only difference was defense - Babos defended well but Lucie Safarova not had an inspired defense in the Budapest Final.
Says the saying: "no one is a prophet in his land", but Timea Babos has done so, he has won his 2nd, WTA title of her career in Hungary, in Budapest at the Hungarian Ladies Open.
Well done Timi you deserved the victory Congratulations!
