The FC Barcelona, head coach announced in a post-game news conference he will not return next season on the bench.
Barcelona will be looking for a new coach this summer.
Luis Enrique has announced he will step down as Barcelona head coach at the end of this season Catalans' coach.
The 46-year-old's contract expires in June and he will not renew, citing the need for rest.
He was thought to have previously come close to stepping away from the Catalan club at the end of a tumultuous first season in charge at Camp Nou, when he won the La Liga championship, Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League titles.
Luis Enrique confirmed the news in the wake of Barca's 6-1 win over Sporting Gijon.
“I want to announce to everyone that I won’t continue at Barcelona next year. It’s difficult, but a decision I have thought about,” Luis Enrique said.
“I need to rest. That’s the main reason why I am not going to continue.”
Former Spain midfielder Enrique played for FC Barcelona between 1996 and his retirement from playing in 2004.
He then coached their B team from 2008 to 2011, returning to the club as first-team boss after spells head coach AS Roma and Celta Vigo.
Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu said: 'We accept Luis Enrique's decision. He has been a great a coach. Now is it time to end his spell in the best possible way.'
